Fall Festival HS/EHS

The anticipation is building as the Annual Head Start/Early Head Start Fall Festival approaches. This event is a highlight on the calendar for Head Start and Early Head Start families, offering an evening filled with delicious food, captivating music, entertaining games, and most importantly, a sense of unity and community spirit. On Monday, October 30th, at 4:30 pm, we invite all our cherished Head Start and Early Head Start families to gather at 770 Apple Orchard Road for a magical evening of celebration.

Lights, Camera, Literacy!

This past year, as well as this year, the children have been able to be a part of a PNC grant given to the UIS Sangamon Auditorium that allows the children of Head Start to attend 2 live productions of children stories each year. As part of the grant the UIS Sangamon Auditorium staff visits all the classrooms before they attend the productions to read the books and conduct activities with the children. The auditorium also offers a family night with activities, food, and a show. As part of PNC's commitment, volunteers from local banks help with the activities.

Wee Grow is a program that supports working caregivers and those enrolled in school by providing care before and after Head Start hours, including summer months when traditional Head Start is not in session. Services are offered at our Cook Street site, available from 6:45am-8:45am and 3:30pm-5:30pm. Support is available to those who qualify through Child Care Connection. The Wee Grow program continues the quality of care provided by the Head Start and Early Head Start programs at the Cook Site.
