The Springfield Urban League is proud to announce that it has once again been recognized in the 2025 Illinois Times “Best of Springfield” Awards. This year, the organization received two first-place honors: Best Local Non-Profit and Best Day Care Center for its Head Start and Early Head Start programs.
These awards are a reflection of the League’s deep-rooted mission to empower communities, strengthen families, and transform lives. For nearly 100 years, the Springfield Urban League has served as a cornerstone of opportunity, advocacy, and equity in Central Illinois. Since 1926, its programs have touched countless lives through education, workforce development, health, justice, and community empowerment.
As the League approaches its centennial year in 2026, the organization reflects not only on its legacy but also on its enduring promise to the future. Generations of families have been uplifted through programs that open doors, create opportunity, and promote self-sufficiency. Every success story is a reminder of what can be achieved when a community stands together in purpose.
We are thankful to the Illinois Times readers and to every supporter who continues to believe in its mission. These honors mark another milestone on a journey fueled by compassion, commitment, and community.
