Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Training

An interactive workshop series designed for the new Peer Counselor.  This training course provides an orientation and identifies the primary roles and responsibilities of the peer counselor.  The training will provide three-day virtual sessions. Self-study modules and homework will be assigned. Participants will be expected to complete homework assignments and tests.

Pre-requisites:  open to any new peer counselor or a peer counselor who has not taken the USDA Peer Counselor course.   You must be employed at an Illinois WIC agency or health department.  You must be committed to finishing the course, including completing all requirements and sharing information as appropriate. 

Who should attend:  Any new Peer Counselor that has not previously attended a USDA Peer Counselor course is encouraged to attend.

The training schedule is as follows:

April 7, 2026       9:00am - 3:00pm  (Tuesday)

April 8, 2026       9:00am - 3:00pm  (Wednesday)

April 9, 2026       9:00am - 3:00pm  (Thursday)

This training will be provided in a Zoom Platform in real time.
