The Springfield Urban League, Inc. is pleased to announce its 2006 Scholarship Program.  Scholarship awards are being offered to Springfield area minority graduating seniors that will pursue or have secured enrollment in accredited colleges or universities for fall 2006.   

SPRINGFIELD URBAN LEAGUE-G.B. WINSTON SCHOLARSHIP

• Awarded to a first-time graduating high school senior who plans to major in any field of study.

Scholarship applications must; be completed in full, accompany an official high school transcript (as appropriate)and be submitted before the deadline of 5:00 p.m., Wednesday May 24, 2006.  All applicants must be available to physically participate in an interview with the Education/Scholarship Committee.  Interviews will be conducted on Wednesday, May 31^st and Thursday, June 1^st.   

The Committee will select recipients based on the following criteria: 

1. Completed application

2. Official Transcript

3.  Acceptance by an accredited college/university

4.  ACT/SAT Scores

5. GPA

6. Class Rank

7. Interview

Applications and official transcripts must be postmarked no later than 5:00 p.m., May 24, 2006 to be considered.  Eligible applicants will be notified of time of interview following the receipt of the application packet. 

Applicants who are selected for scholarships must show proof of college admission/enrollment before receiving scholarship monies.
