Summary: The Springfield Urban League's AmeriCorps Program is designed to engage AmeriCorps members in direct service and capacity-building to address unmet needs. Activities may include supervising, tutoring and mentoring youth, assisting disaster victims, helping with community gardens, assisting with the organization of community programs (i.e. job preparedness, healthy lifestyles, financial literacy, etc.) and also mobilize community volunteers to strengthen the capacity of the organizations where they serve.

The position of Special Services Coordinator, regardless of race, creed or disability, will work closely with the community and other specialist and coordinators in the agency as well as the Education and Youth Services Director, and the Policy Council. The Special Services Coordinator designs, coordinates and implements the disability and mental health components of the Head Start Program. The Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, enrollment and arranging for delivery of services for children with disabilities and the smooth operation of the program. The Coordinator is responsible for the identification of children and families with social emotional issues and coordinates interventions for these issues.
